Kate Jaehn-Kreibaum is the winner of Event Spectrum Inc.’s Stand Up and Stand Out in Jamaica Contest.
The contest, which was developed and promoted in partnership with Jamaica Tourism and Meetings + Incentive Travel (M+IT), offered recent event management program graduates the chance to win an all-expenses paid FAM trip to Montego Bay, Jamaica. Initial submissions were made via Twitter and video.
Event Spectrum reports that while every applicant was unique and brought personality to their submission, Kate wowed the judges with her video and “her professionalism on both social media and at the interview.”
As the winner, Kate will act as the student ambassador on the FAM, which runs October 23-28, 2014. Her duties include:
- Writing a page-long perspective article on the FAM to run concurrent with M+IT associate editor Christine Otsuka’s feature on the trip, which will be published in the December 2014 issue;
- daily logs to be published as blog posts;
- an online article for meetingscanada.com featuring photos and video from the trip;
- and, social media updates throughout the FAM.
Kate graduated from George Brown College’s special events planning program this spring. She is currently working as an events assistant at The Learning Partnership (Canada). Her long list of honours includes receiving the 2014 Norm Neill Student of the Year Award from MPI Toronto; being awarded George Brown College’s Clifford Lloyd 40th Anniversary Scholarship; and winning a scholarship to attend the IMEX-MPI-MCI Future Leaders Forum at the 2013 MPI World Education Congress.
