SYDNEY — There’s plenty happening in Australia, as Business Events Australia highlights new flights, hotels and event spaces in the Land Down Under, it was announced last month.
Qantas will launch daily flights between Sydney and Beijing beginning Jan. 25, 2017. The service is part of the expansion of Qantas’ partnership with China Eastern that will add three international codeshare routes between Australia and China: Sydney-Hangzhou, Sydney-Kunming and Brisbane-Shanghai.
Singapore Airlines is adding three times weekly service to Sydney via Jakarta from Singapore starting Nov. 23, bringing the carrier’s total to 34 weekly flights between Sydney and Singapore.
International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney) has unveiled its latest outdoor venue: Event Deck. With 53,800 square feet of open air space, Event Deck can cater to cocktail-style events of 5,000 people, and can accommodate large-scale marquees hosting 1,800, banquet-style or 3,750, cocktail-style.
The Epicure group has unveiled one of Sydney’s newest event spaces on Sydney Harbour with the launch of luxury vessel MV EPICURE I. With three pillar-less levels, MV EPICURE I can accommodate up to 430, cocktail-style or 290, banquet-style.
In Queensland, Hong Kong Airlines will fly two additional services into the Gold Coast and Cairns from December, increasing its number of flights from three to five per week.
Brisbane has welcomed the new 134-room Swiss-Belhotel Brisbane. Many rooms feature views of the Brisbane River, city skyline or Story Bridge. Hotel facilities include a corporate lounge, two meeting rooms, indoor heated swimming pool and in-house gymnasium. The hotel is within walking distance of the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Rhapsody Resort has opened in the heart of the Gold Coast offering 227 apartments over 41 levels. The new property has event space on the 27th floor and the 41st floor, which can accommodate up to 100 delegates for cocktail functions, with views over the ocean. Also onsite is meeting space suitable for groups of about 20.
Located in Sydney’s Royal Botanic Gardens, and opposite the Art Gallery of New South Wales, The Pavilion on the Domain has undergone a refurbishment that includes white wood finishes and a newly tiled central bar. Flexible indoor and outdoor spaces are available. The venue can accommodate 250 guests for cocktail events and 200 for seated functions.
