In a recent study by real estate company Greater Toronto Home Pros, Canada is a pretty gorgeous country and we like to show it off. By analyzing hashtags related to each city, Toronto tops the list.
With nearly 56 million #Toronto posts (not to mention other related hashtags), Toronto takes first place. With the city’s population, tourist attractions and major events, its rating comes as no surprise. However, a quick search of #Toronto will also offer an array of natural, scenic images as well.

The number two spot definitely has a little more scenery than Toronto, though. With over 26 million posts, Vancouver comes in second place. Have you seen those mountains? It’s no wonder that this stunning area is worth Instagramming. Most images posted focus on the natural lakes and waterfalls in the area.
Montreal enters the list at number three. The 20 million Montreal hashtags tend to highlight the city’s restaurants and culinary landscape. If you don’t Instagram your food at a restaurant, did you even eat?
The fourth most Instagrammable city in Canada is Calgary. With 8.7 million posts, the city proves to be quite popular on social media.
The country’s capital, Ottawa, rounds out the top five with 7.7 million posts. The high number can partially be attributed to having two major universities in the area, but also political posts.

Completing the top 10 are Edmonton (5.7 million tags), Winnipeg (4.8 million), Mississauga (4.7 million), Brampton (4.4 million) and Quebec City (1.3 million).
Social media plays a strong role in the marketing and advertising of cities, and often will influence people when it comes to booking vacations, meetings or other visits. We can’t ignore the importance of Instagram and its influence on tourism.
