The 42-key Eugenia de Montijo Hotel in Toledo, Spain, is the latest addition to Marriott’s Autograph Collection Hotels.
The property, which just reopened following a full renovation, is housed in the former palace of the Empress Eugenia De Montijo, in the city centre. It has 40 guestrooms and two luxury bedroom suites: The Tiffany (cityview) and The Empress, which has views of the surrounding mountains.
Additional services and amenities include:
- two event venues, with a capacity for up to 40 people;
- Eugenia’s Bath, a spa and wellness centre with a steam bath, sauna and jet-pool facilities, offering a range of health and beauty treatments;
- two dining spaces (The Dressing, based on the Empress’ original dressing room where breakfast is served) and the Mr. Worth Atelier Restaurant, a modern reinvention of a Toledo tavern serving traditional Spanish cuisine made with high quality, local market ingredients;
- and a lively lobby covered by a crystal dome.
“The hotel’s rich heritage, intimate size and chic, modern design creates a unique getaway experience exactly like nothing else,” said John Licence, vice-president, Premium & Select Brands, Europe at Marriott International.
The property was redesigned by renowned Spanish architects Manuel Bernard and Sainz de Vicuña alongside Interior Design Leitmotiv. The revamped spaces combine the traditional essence of the building’s heritage with modern, chic finishing touches. Design details include:
- three ancient coffered ceilings in tones of graphite, deep blue and white marble above the reception, bar and restaurant;
- Tiffany-blue tables in the reception area;
- metallic fittings throughout the building;
- and deluxe velvet furnishings.
Toledo is a UNESCO World Heritage site located approximately 75 kilometers from Madrid. The hotel is located in ancient Toledo, near the Cathedral and Jewish Quarter.
