Meeting and event planners have typically selected Taboo Resort, on Lake Muskoka, about a 90-minute drive from Toronto, for its natural setting, fine dining, waterfront activities and championship golf course and club. As of this summer, there is one more amenity to add to the list: Spa Taboo.
The modern space, located in the main building, houses eight treatment rooms, including one double suite with two treatment beds, an oversized tub, dual showers and a gas fireplace.
Both men’s and women’s lockers have spacious steam rooms. As for treatments, the spa menu offers massages, facials, body scrubs, plus manicures and pedicures, and can manage groups of up to 55 people over the course of a half-day.
In conjunction with the opening of the spa, the resort has introduced a vegan menu. Executive chef Andrew Dymond says, “we didn’t want our vegetarian and vegan dishes to stand out, so we’ve integrated them into every menu, including banquets.”
An 800-sq.-ft. Convener Suite was also recently introduced.
