SITE and MPI executives and boards of directors at signing of agreement to collaborate and cooperate to benefit the MICE industry.
The Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE) and Meeting Professionals International (MPI) have signed an agreement formally committing the associations “to pursue future cooperation and collaboration for the benefit of business events professionals worldwide.” The agreement was signed on the last day of the SITE + MPI Global Forum, which ran January 12-14 in Rome, Italy and was the first SITE/MPI global event.
The agreement was signed by Kevin Hinton, CEO, SITE; Paul Van DeVenter, president and CEO, MPI; Annamaria Ruffini, president, SITE International Board of Directors; and Amanda Armstrong, chairperson, MPI International Board of Directors.
The agreement’s title—The SITE and MPI Treaty of Rome of the Incentive and Meeting Industry—honours the Treaty of Rome, an international agreement that brought about the creation of the European Economic Community (EEC), which was signed in Rome by Italy, Belgium, France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and West Germany 60 years ago.
The Treaty of Rome of the Incentive and Meeting Industry states:
Whereas the SITE + MPI Global Forum 2018 in Rome, Italy brought together the worlds’ leading professionals across all industry segments,
Whereas the Boards of Directors and Foundation Trustees of both Organizations are dedicated to creating synergy for the benefit of their members and the industry as a whole,
Whereas both Organizations have a shared interest in advocating for meetings, incentives, conventions, and events professionals around the world,
The Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE) and Meeting Professionals International (MPI) hereby commit to future cooperation and collaboration with each other for the benefit of industry professionals globally.
