The Radisson Fort McDowell has relaunched as the We-Ko-Pa Resort & Conference Center, and will now operate as an independent under the exclusive management of the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation. Both changes were effective October 1, 2014.
Earlier this year, the Fort McDowell Yavapai nation made the strategic decision to change the resort’s name and position the property as an independent golf resort. We-K0-Pa, which means “four peaks” in Yavapai, has great spiritual meaning for the Tribe, paying tribute to its rich, diverse heritage while also honouring the mountain scenery that surrounds the resort. In addition, it more closely synchs the hotel with the world-renown We-Ko-Pa Golf Club, which is located adjacent to the resort and open to its guests.
“Being recognized as an AAA Four Diamond Award property for the past eight years drives our associates to continue delivering expectation-exceeding, customer-centric experiences,” said Craig Benell, general manager, We-K0-Pa Resort & Conference Center. “By sharing a name with We-K0-Pa Golf Club, a highly acclaimed golf facility, and recently assuming management responsibility of nearby Fort McDowell Adventures, we have an even greater palette of unique recreational activities to offer our guests.”
We-Ko-Pa golf Club features two award-winning 18-hole courses designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw (Saguaro) and Scott Miller (Cholla). It has been honoured as one of the best golf facilities in the United States by Golfweek and others.
The resort has 246 guestrooms and suites; heated outdoor pool with two whirlpools; a spa; and restaurant. In addition, it offers 25,000 square feet of meeting space and can accommodate groups up to 2,000. It is located 25 minutes away from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.
