San Francisco, one of the world’s top incentive travel and meeting cities, has several new event venues debuting now and in the near future.
The Masonic in San Francisco: This historic Nob Hill venue underwent a multi-million dollar reno this spring and summer and is set to reopen this month, according to Live Nation, the entertainment company that operates the property for the Masons of California. The renovation transformed the Masonic from a fixed seat venue to a flexible, multi-tiered venue that can be used for private receptions, meetings, private dinners and classroom-style events as well as general admission and seated concerts. New features include: VIP room for 300 with views of Nob Hill, San Francisco and the Bay; luxury VIP boxes with wait service and private restrooms; a new concert stage; and state-of-the-art sound system. Re-opening: September 2014.
Levi’s® Stadium: Located south of San Francisco in Silicon Valley, Levi’s® Stadium is an technologically- and environmentally-advanced sports and entertainment venue with more than 110,000 square feet of event space. Available spaces range from field-level clubs with direct views to the 50-yard line to a rooftop terrace and garden with views of downtown San Jose and the foothills bordering Silicon Valley. The Stadium is currently accepting event bookings of almost any size.
James R. Herman Cruise Terminal, Pier 27: On September 18, 2014, Crown Princess will be the inaugural ship call at this new terminal. On non-cruise days, the facility is available for conferences, trade shows and special events. It offers more than 60,000 square feet of shared use space. Pier 35, the existing terminal, is also available for special events.
Presidio Officers Club: Opening this month, the Presidio Officers’ Club, one of San Francisco’s most iconic venues, has been transformed into two event spaces. On the building’s second floor, the 2,955-square-foot Ortega Ballroom offers city views, an outdoor deck and high ceilings. The outdoor Hardie Courtyard on the ground floor is a perfect pre-event location. Accepting bookings now.
Strand Theater: Located in the Central Market Street corridor, The Strand Theater will reopen this fall with a 285-seat theatre, a 120-seat black box theatre, and a cafe. Originally opening in 1917, it was shuttered in 2003. It will reopen again in early 2015.
Nourse Theater: Located in the city’s Performing Arts District, the hall has been closed to the public for more than 30 years. In 2012, City Arts & Lectures began a restoration project and has brought the theater back for public use. The 1,600-seat hall has new state-of-the-art lighting and high quality sound equipment including Meyer speakers, new curtains and plush upholstered seats. Open now.
Herbst Theatre: Located across the street from City Hall on Van Ness Avenue in San Francisco, the 900-seat Herbst Theatre is targeted to re-open in September 1, 2015 after completion of seismic retrofitting and upgrades. The theatre is decorated with eight grand murals painted by Frank Brangwyn as commissioned works for San Francisco’s Panama-Pacific International Exposition of 1915.
Warriors Arena: The Golden State Warriors’ new arena is scheduled to open for the 2018-19 season. It will allow San Francisco to attract large events such as national political conventions, which have specific needs for seating capacity, contiguous space and sightlines.
The Village: This 17,000-square-foot event venue on Market Street has a 1,300-person capacity spread over three floors and is ideal for conferences, product launches, activations, immersions and more. It offers “embedded event solutions” such as immersive video mapping, interactive technologies and video production. It opened in August 2014.
