The Hotel Eden, the Dorchester Collection‘s iconic property in Rome, has reopened following an extensive 18-month restoration.
World-renowned architect and interior designers Bruno Moinard and Claire Betaille of 4BI & Associés, together with Patrick Jouin and Sanjit Manku from Jouin Manku, oversaw the renovation.
“We are delighted to reopen Hotel Eden and lead it into its next chapter,” said Luca Virgilio, general manager, Hotel Eden. “We look forward to welcoming guests and offering them the most memorable experience in a timeless destination.”

The property is located in the heart of the old city of Rome, a short walk from the Spanish Steps and the Villa Borghese. The renovation saw its original 121 rooms and suites converted to 98 spacious rooms.
Moinard and Betaille restored the lobby, rooms, suites and meeting rooms to accentuate the natural light, and emphasize the high ceilings and tall windows. The property’s top suite, the Bellavista Penthouse Suite, offers unrivalled view of Rome with floor-to-ceiling windows, which can be fully opened.
On the f&b side, executive chef Fabio Ciervo has crafted menus that “harmonize exceptional food with a healthy lifestyle.” On-site restaurants and bars include:
- La Terrazza, a fine-dining restaurant located on the hotel’s top floor, serving innovative Mediterranean dishes. Jouin Manku, who was responsible for the redesign of the restaurants and spa, drew on traditional Italian craftsmanship for inspiration and put a fresco glass wall at center-stage in the restaurant.
- Il Giardino Ristorante & Bar, an urban retreat featuring an abstract “vertical garden,” offers an array of light, healthy choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner, including a selection of pasta, pizza and cicchetti
- La Libreria, a space that plays host to a “secret bar” providing innovative cocktails during aperitif time
Historically a popular choice for meetings, conferences and events, the hotel’s three meeting rooms were fully refurbished.
The renovation also saw the addition of a spa to the hotel. Eden Spa offers a range of holistic wellness experiences from Sonya Dakar and Officina Profumo – Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella. It features three suites and a blow-dry bar, as well as a manicure and pedicure suite.
