TORONTO — Porter Airlines returns to Orlando, Fla. with an enhanced schedule for a second year of seasonal service, it was announced Sept. 12.
Flights will increase by almost 50 per cent over last year, with more flights during peak travel periods, including Christmas, New Years and March Break.
From Dec. 10 to April 15, 2017, Porter will offer non-stop flights between Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (BBTCA) and Orlando Melbourne International Airport (MLB).
Between Feb. 15 and March 22, flights increase to twice weekly, with a new midweek departure, as well as two flights on Saturdays during March Break. Connections for Montreal, Ottawa and Thunder Bay, Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury, Timmins and Windsor, Ont., are also available.
Orlando-Melbourne is located less than 10 minutes from the beach, 20 minutes from Port Canaveral and 30 minutes from Kennedy Space Center. Orlando’s major attractions, including theme parks, are accessible within an hour’s drive.
“After the success of our first season, travellers have proven there is a demand to serve Orlando-Melbourne,” said Robert Deluce, president and CEO of Porter Airlines.

Together, Orlando Melbourne International Airport and Porter Airlines are meeting the demand for nonstop service with Toronto with a mid-week frequency,” said Greg Donovan, executive director of Orlando Melbourne International Airport.
Specializing in short-haul flights, Porter offers flights to Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, Moncton, N.B., Halifax, St. John’s, NF, Thunder Bay, Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury, Timmins, North Bay and Windsor.
The airline also flies to New York (Newark), Chicago (Midway), Boston, Washington (Dulles), Pittsburgh and provides seasonal flights to Mt. Tremblant, Que., Stephenville, N.L., Myrtle Beach, S.C., Burlington, Vt., and Orlando-Melbourne, Fla.
Porter Escapes offers a range of packages including flights, hotels and attractions in Orlando-Melbourne and the surrounding area. Florida Everglades, LEGOLAND and the Orlando Explorer Pass are just some of the attractions available to complete the package.
