Luxury hotel brand, Niccolo Hotels, will open its new flagship property in Hong Kong later this year.
The Murray, Hong Kong is a high-profile preservation project by British international architecture and integrated design studio Foster + Partners.
Part of Hong Kong’s Conserving Central Project, the hotel is housed in what was formerly the stand-along Murray Building, one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. A member of Global Hotel Alliance’s Ultratravel Collection, the USD $1 billion property is designed to be a contemporary, urban chic sanctuary.
The property has 336 oversized rooms and suites on 25 floors. Other features include a rooftop bar with views of the central business district and the Hong Kong Park, and a series of signature restaurans and bars.
Meeting and event space in the hotel includes:
- The Niccolo Room on the 25th floor, which can seat 240 guests and accommodate receptions for up to 360.
- Six smaller meeting rooms (25th floor) featuring natural light.
- The Arches on the first level, a unique semi-outdoor event space that surrounds the building and can accommodate up to 300 guests.
- Cotton Tree Terrace, which can hold up to 80 guests .
Seasoned, British-born hotelier Duncan Palmer has been appointed managing director of the property. Palmer’s extensive hospitality CV includes tenures at The Savoy and The Connaught as well as Mandarin Oriental and Langham Hotels.
“I am quietly confident this will become the preferred hotel in Hong Kong for visiting dignitaries, captains of industry and leaders in style,” he says. “They will appreciate the sophisticated and international standard of hospitality that the Niccolo brand delivers.”
Niccolo Hotels
The Niccolo Hotels brand was conceived and designed to cater to the growing maturity and sophistication of the luxury hotel sector in China. Its first hotel—Niccolo Chengdu—opened in 2015. Last September, the brand was recognized as the Best Luxury Hotel Brand of the Year at the 2016 Asia Hotel Awards.
“The Chengdu property is a great success and we are very excited to be able to announce another even more exciting landmark project for Hong Kong,” said Dr. Jennifer Cronin, president, Niccolo Hotels. “The Murray, a Niccolo Hotel, Hong Kong will certainly establish our Niccolo brand and the excellence it stands for firmly in the minds of international travelers.”
