RICHMOND, B.C. — The 7,000-square-foot deck that Pacific Gateway Hotel at Vancouver Airport launched last Labour Day weekend has experienced early successes and the hotel team looks to build on those successes.
“We hope that in the summer, we become one of Richmond’s hot spots for travelers and locals,” said Sean Palmer, general manager, The Deck Kitchen + Bar.
Located behind the hotel, facing the Fraser River and marina, the covered, all-cedar deck sprawls over a spacious single level augmented by a small overhang dining area on the second level.
Anchoring the patio is a sizeable bar. On the deck, and in the adjoining indoor dining room, seating varies from standard dining tables, bar seating and high-top tables to booths. Rounding out the deck’s seating configuration is contemporary lounge furniture offering prime riverside views.
To keep patrons warm in the colder weather, the bar features a series of patio-style heaters. Retractable outer walls operate according to the seasons, opening during the warmer months and closing when the temperatures drop.
On the food side, the style is casual, reflecting the kitchen’s creative takes on West Coast classics that are available on all-day, lunch, dinner, happy hour and brunch menus.
Available to host groups, the deck, during summer, seats 300 people; the indoor restaurant, 150. In the winter, the deck seats 200. Capacities for standing cocktail-style events are the same as those for seated events.
We loved it! …. the food is fantastic and the design layout is beautiful. It is a fabulous space to chill. It is definately a great place to meet up with friends and family for any occasion!
