The Metro Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC) announced this week that it is set to host more citywide conventions in 2023 than in pre-pandemic years.
MTCC said in a release that this is a sign of “the potential for a positive recovery for the business events industry in Ontario.”
The 2023 calendar for the MTCC sees 19 conventions that are estimated to generate just shy of $220 million which will help build up the city’s economy and provide support for local restaurants, hotels, attractions, tourism operators, and more.
“Our industry, our team, and our partners have worked tirelessly over the past two years to recover and move forward successfully,” said Lorenz Hassenstein, President and CEO of the MTCC. “We are very pleased to report that our 2023 booking calendar signals the potential for a strong recovery and bright future for the business events industry and our facility.”
MTCC added that the 2023 conventions are set to gather approximately 98,000 experts and leaders from a wide variety of fields. Nine of the 19 conventions are from the U.S., six are from international associations, and four are from Canada.
