Meeting Professionals International (MPI) Toronto Chapter honoured nine of members at its 25th Annual Awards Gala, held March 12th at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
This year’s winners are:
- Planner of the Year: Mariella Irivarren, CMP, BMO Financial Group
- Supplier of the Year: Tamer Mecky, CEM, mecky & Co.
- Outstanding Volunteer of the Year: Lindsey Press, BMO Financial Group
- Mentor of the Year: Julie Holmen, Tourism Toronto
- New Member of the Year: Tami Adams, Speakers’ Spotlight and Pavel Diaz Ramirez, canadianspecialevents.com
- Norm Neil Student of the Year: Diandra Sandoval, Ryerson University
- Literary Award: Micki Lubek, CMP, Scotiabank
- President’s Award: Theresa Gatto, CMP, Ottawa Tourism
In addition the recipients of the chapter’s 2015 scholarships were announced. They are:
- Toronto Education Conference (registration fee): Tamer Mecky, CEM, mecky & Co.; Kristi Contini, Grant Thornton LLP (Canada)
- CMP ($750 towards registration fee for designation): Natalie Ciarallo, TD; Stephanie Rapko, Meetings + Incentive Travel
- MPI World Education Congress ($1,200 towards attending the conference): Elizabeth Stewart, CMP, DMCP, Canadian Chiropractic Association
- Draw for completing MPI’s Survey – TEC Registration: Jennifer Pitt, CMP, CIBC
Stephanie Rapko, chair of the Awards Gala Committee, says, “It was a fabulous night. The nominees felt like they were at the Oscars from the red carpet welcome to the holographic Wall of Fame. Our emcee Jessi Cruickshank added to the evening with her witty commentary and ‘red carpet’ interviews.”
The event’s ECOS initative collected 45 books and $120 for the Children’s Book Bank.
