DALLAS — Meeting Professionals International (MPI) has been selected to provide meeting management services for the Southeast Education Conference (SEC), a collaborative education conference hosted by the association’s four Florida chapters – Tampa Bay Area, Greater Orlando, North Florida and South Florida – collectively known as TONS, it was announced Aug. 2. MPI will be responsible for developing and managing the overall program for the conference in 2017 and 2018.
As the official meeting manager, MPI will oversee all event logistics, including site selection, staffing, registration, housing, sponsorships, and marketing and communications support. In addition, the association will partner with TONS to plan the general sessions, educational programming, networking opportunities, hosted buyer program, tradeshow, corporate social responsibility (CSR) project and fundraising auctions.
“We look forward to partnering with the MPI Florida chapters on planning and managing the Southeast Education Conference over the next two years,” said Matthew Marcial, senior director of events at MPI. “The team at MPI Global is ready to deliver an outstanding event experience to SEC attendees that is synonymous with the caliber of our signature event World Education Congress. It is our hope that this partnership will be the first of more opportunities in which we collaborate with MPI chapters.”
Established in 2000, SEC has been held 14 times over the past two decades and takes place in August in a local Florida destination. It attracts an average of 500 attendees from across the United States and Caribbean. The dates and locations for SEC 2017 and 2018 will be determined and announced this fall.
“We are so excited about the partnership with MPI to manage the Southeast Educational Conference. The continued success of the conference and our vision to be the premier professional development conference in the southeast led us to a complete redesign of the leadership and management for the conference,” explained T.J. Worrell, TONS Chair and Regional Vice President, Hotel Sales at Encore Event Technologies.
