DALLAS — The Meeting Professionals International (MPI) Academy is launching several new education offerings, including seven web-based courses and two Experiential Event Series programs, it was announced during a June 12 media briefing at MPI’s World Education Congress, in Atlantic City, N.J.
The new courses include online versions of MPI’s Healthcare Meeting Compliance Certificate and Sustainable Meeting Professional Certificate programs as well as the Meetings & Events at Sea Program presented in partnership with Cruise Line International Association. In addition, the academy has developed two web-based Experiential Event Series case study courses, which provide key learnings from its CES and South by Southwest experiential event programs in an on-demand format, and will offer the Venue Sales Certificate Program I and II online courses, which focus on three areas of the sales process — pitch, positioning and proposals. All of these courses align with Meeting and Business Event Competency Standards and will be available online starting July 1.
“At MPI, we strive to be the first choice for professional career development by delivering comprehensive and relevant education during conferences and events as well as online,” said Paul Van Deventer, president and CEO. “We are excited to launch these new MPI Academy offerings, which are part of ongoing efforts to expand our digital content and make our education more accessible to members, and look forward to introducing more courses later this year.”
The MPI Academy is also preparing for two upcoming programs from the Experiential Event Series featuring pre-event access and education, just prior to the start of the Democratic National Convention and behind-the-scenes access and education during the Toronto International Film Festival.
Program dates and locations are as follows: Democratic National Convention July 18-20, Philadelphia, Pa. MPI Certificate Program: Event Management Certificate, 20 clock hours. Toronto International Film Festival Sept. 8-11. MPI Certificate Program: Festival Production, 20 clock hours.
