WASHINGTON, DC — Southern California’s newly independently branded Monarch Beach Resort, which is slated to complete a year-long $40 million renovation in June, has been accepted as the newest member of Associated Luxury Hotels International (ALHI), it was announced in May.
“We are very proud to represent the incredible, and newly independent, Monarch Beach Resort to the North American MICE marketplace,” said ALHI president Jim Schultenover.
Formerly known as The St. Regis Monarch Beach, the beachfront resort offers 400 guestrooms and suites, and more than 30,000 square feet of indoor meeting space. In addition, the property offers 60,000 square feet of outdoor event space, including a botanical garden, lawns and ocean-view terraces. Additional amenities include 18-hole beachfront Monarch Beach Golf Links.
A comprehensive renovation added the Miraval Life in Balance Spa, which opened in April and features 24 treatment rooms and tranquility zones.
The refurbishment also transformed the lobby, whose newly installed panoramic windows provide unobstructed ocean views. Expected to debut in June, a new pool complex will feature an infinity edge Ocean pool, an outdoor fire pit and a multi-level design with a second tier dedicated to sunning and lounging.
In addition to Stonehill Tavern, the resort offers new culinary options such as Mediterranean-focused AVEO Table + Bar, which opened in March; 33˚North, a contemporary bar opened in January; indoor-outdoor dining concept Westwind Terrace; and Mexi-Cali poolside cantina Sombra, launching in June.
Located between Los Angeles and San Diego, the resort is 21 miles from John Wayne — Orange County Airport; 41 miles from Long Beach Airport; 60 miles from Los Angeles International Airport; and 68 miles from San Diego International Airport.
Monarch Beach Resort becomes ALHI’s first and only member hotel in Dana Point. The resort also becomes the seventh California member in the exclusive ALHI Level 5 Collection, joining Pebble Beach’s The Inn at Spanish Bay; Orange County’s 292-room Island Hotel Newport Beach; 380-room The Langham Huntington, in Pasadena; The Lodge at Pebble Beach; Ojai Valley Inn & Spa; and Newport Coast’s The Resort at Pelican Hill.
