Montréal-based Tidan Hospitality and Real Estate Group acquired the Montréal Marriott Château Champlain, effective April 16, 2018. Atlific Hotels will continue to provide hotel management services during the transition.
The 611-room property was constructed by CP Hotels in celebration of Expo 67. It was designed by French-Canadian architects Roger D’Astous—a student of Frank Lloyd Wright—and Jean-Paul Pothier, who were inspired by the arches of Windsor Station, the city’s former railway station and CPR headquarters.
Tidan co-owners Mike Yuval and Jack Softer plan to make a significant investment in the property, restoring its heritage features and upgrading all of its guestrooms, suites and hallways as well as its lobby, restaurant and meeting and event spaces.
“The Chateau Champlain is a cornerstone of Montreal’s modern history,” said Yuval. “This building holds wonderful memories for me personally and for Canadians across the country. We are very proud to make it a beacon of civic pride for future generations to enjoy.”
He also said that they are pleased Atlific will continue to collaborate with them on a transitional basis in order to ensure continuity.
The Marriott Château Champlain will remain open during the restoration, which is expected to begin in late 2018.
