LAS VEGAS — The Las Vegas Economic Impact Regional Center will open Lucky Dragon Hotel & Casino, the city’s first resort delivering an authentic Asian cultural and gaming experience, in late 2016.
“Our principals have provided the financial commitments necessary to ensure Lucky Dragon’s development remains on track for an opening later this year,” said David Jacoby, chief operating officer of Lucky Dragon.
Located close to the north end of the Strip, Lucky Dragon will offer 204 guestrooms, including 23 standard suites average 625 square feet. On the top floor, there will be a 1,300-square-foot penthouse suite, offering panoramic views of the Strip, and a formal dining space suitable for catered meals and events.
Culinary experiences will include Jewel Kitchen, extending directly onto the casino floor; a night market emulating the street food markets of Asia, serving regional dishes, seafood, dim sum and barbecue; a dim sum restaurant; and a 60-seat fine-dining restaurant.
An indoor-outdoor tea garden and lounge, overseen by a tea sommelier, will serve up brews sourced directly from farms throughout Asia. Custom-built Gongfu tables will provide the setting for a traditional Chinese tea ritual ceremony.
On the wellness side, a 4,500-square-foot spa will focus on reflexology treatments, and will offer one wet treatment room and once couple’s room.
The resort’s 27,500-square-foot casino will focus on table games, such as baccarat and pai gow, that are popular in Asia. Centering the gaming floor will be a pagoda-shaped bar punctuated by a 1.25-ton glass dragon sculpture suspended from the ceiling. In addition to the Emerald Room, a high-limit gaming area, Lucky Dragon will also house VIP gaming on the second level.
The resort aims to be a community gathering spot for Asian visitors and locals, and will feature details such as signage in Chinese first and English second and a multilingual staff. Designed by architects Ed Vance & Associates, the hotel and casino’s design have been influenced by the traditions of Asian culture.
