The London Convention Centre's exterior.
The London Convention Centre (LCC), in London, Ont., has unveiled its $1.3-million facilities upgrade.
The upgrades to the corporate event venue include over 40,000 sq. ft. of new carpet, acoustic wall coverings and state-of-the-art lighting, including energy efficient HID lights and programmable LED lighting in the east corridor.
Moreover, the LED fixtures and software means this business meeting venue now has the ability to customize the look of the space and complement convention design in the building, according to Michael Crowley, LCC board chair.
Upgrades were chosen on the basis of environmental impact.
For instance, the new carpet is carbon-neutral and SMART Platinum Certified. The old carpet has been donated to the local Habitat for Humanity, to be re-used in building 10 new homes next year.
LCC houses over 70,000 sq. ft. of meeting space, including a theatre for 300.
