Lions Club International will take over Montréal from June 25-30, 2021. The city has been selected as the host city for the organization’s convention, which is one of the largest events of its kind in the world. It is expected to draw some 15,000 delegates and generate $38.4 million in tourism spending to the city’s economy, with more than 50,000 room nights.
“It is truly an honour for Montréal to be selected as the host city for this international convention uniting these remarkable philanthropic groups. Like Singapore and Milan, Montréal was chosen because it is cosmopolitan, modern and avant-garde,” said Yves Lalumière, president and CEO of Tourisme Montréal.
Tourisme Montréal would like to applaud the efforts of its partners that helped showcase Montréal’s best features during the bid process, including the Lions Clubs of Montréal and Québec, the City of Montréal, the Palais des congrès de Montréal, the Hotel Association of Greater Montréal and Evenko.
“Securing a convention of this size and scope requires everyone from the business tourism industry to mobilize,” says Raymond Larivée, president and CEO of the Palais des congrès de Montréal. “Our city hosts more international events than any other city in the Americas, which means Montréal and the Palais are equipped to handle conventions attended by thousands of delegates who expect an exceptional quality of service.”
