Following an $80.8 million renovation of the historic Samuel F. Carter Building in downtown Houston, the landmark property will resurface as the JW Marriott Houston Downtown in the spring of 2014.
The luxury hotel will feature 323 guest rooms, restaurant and full-service bar, spa, health club, executive lounge and 10,000 square feet of meeting space plus a 1,800-square-foot roof-top event space. The design will preserve the iconic features of the building and celebrate the flavour of the city with an artfully crafted environment.
Via a news release Bob Eury, executive director of the Houston Downtown Management District, said: “The location is great for convention guests, business travelers and tourists as it is across the street from the newly opened BG Group Place and is just blocks away from iconic workplaces such as Chase Tower, the Esperson Building and Pennzoil Place.”
The JW Marriott Houston Downtown is the brand’s first adaptive reuse project in Texas.
