JPdL Toronto & Niagara joined hundreds of volunteers recently to kick start the ONEXONE Million Meals Movement. The mega event was held Friday, May 23, 2014, at INK Entertainment’s Kool Haus in Toronto.
JPdL staffers, local youth, community members and corporate partners got to work early and by noon, water bottles, juice boxes, oatmeal, granola bars and other food items donated by Sodexo and Pepsico, lined the warehouse walls ready to be packed.
At the event, each JPdL staff member oversaw a table of forty volunteers, tasked with packing one of seven different meals. Together they packed over 100,000 meals to be donated to thousands of children in need in Toronto and Montreal.
As the event drew to a close, Joey Adler, founder of ONEXONE and CEO and founder of Diesel Canada, spoke to the volunteers about the value of making a difference in human lives, one by one.
As volunteers left the warehouse, many said they were thrilled to be able to contribute to their community and that they felt reconnected with their city.
ONEXONE’s mission is to improve the lives of children in Canada, the USA and around the world with programs dedicated to five fundamental pillars: water, health, education, play and food. Its initiatives include the One Million Meals Movement and partnering on the app I Can Go Without, which allows users to make a micro-donation to an organization of their choice.
