On Dec. 14, Site Canada held its holiday gathering at the InterContinental Toronto Centre’s Azure restaurant. A crowd of about 80 people enjoyed first-rate food and drink, and participated in a silent auction that raised $2,415 for the Childhood Cancer Foundation. Site president Joe Orecchio addressed the crowd, passing on his holiday wishes and introducing the Etobicoke School of the Arts GLEE Choir ‘Aces,’ who entertained with soulful renditions of holiday classics and a Lady Gaga near-classic.
International Centre “Project Runway” Pre-Event Reception
On Dec. 1, the International Centre, in partnership with Tourism Toronto and utilizing the talents of RentFrockRepeat, treated clients to a truly glamorous experience prior to the MPI Toronto Holiday Gala.
Prior to the event, guests were pre-fitted in designer dresses, and upon arriving at the International Centre, were were wowed by the intimate setting created in the Conference Centre.
Adding a sophisticated touch were a runway showcasing gorgeous dresses and an expert teaching the Art of Tying a Bowtie. Guests sipped and nibbled on festive holiday creations, while having their hair and makeup done.
Donning their selected dress and posing for a photo op rounded out the experience.
MPI Toronto Chapter Holiday Gala
With an upscale All that Jazz theme, the Dec. 1 MPI Toronto Holiday Gala was a tremendous success. With an all-time high attendance, of 503, the room buzzed with activity. As per usual, the silent and live auctions once again were a big part of the night, raising almost $28,000 for the Breakfast with Santa Foundation and the Toronto Chapter’s Educational Reserve Fund.
The festive feeling continued, with big band music, great networking and a lively dance performance. This event just keeps getting better each year.
CAEM Annual Holiday Lunch
On Dec. 14, the exposition industry came out for the 2011 Holiday Lunch. With well over 300 people in attendance, this event demonstrates a genuine spirit of giving.
Each year, the Children’s Miracle Network receives support from the CAEM community, and the $6,230 cheque donation presented by the association was matched by the event hosts, the Toronto Congress Centre, for total proceeds of $12,460.
In addition, over 9000 pounds of food was donated by CAEM members to the Daily Bread Food Bank.
