REGINA, SK. — Earlier this year, the International Indigenous Speakers Bureau launched, with a mission to help shape a positive understanding of Indigenous people.
Founded by Claire Bélanger-Parker, a member of CanSPEP and Shannon Loutitt, the IISB provides an opportunity to open doors for experienced or emerging speakers to reach world stages and share their perspectives.
According to the IISB website, the organization’s mandate seeks to represent Indigenous speakers by negotiating fair value agreements; create a strong presence of Indigenous speakers on-line; build bridges between cultures; improve the financial sustainability of Indigenous speakers; help emerging speakers find their voice, and create a safe and respectful platform for indigenous and non-indigenous people to come together and learn from one another.
