Discount airline Iceland Express is introducing weekly non-stop flights between Winnipeg and Reykjavik, Iceland, with service starting June 12.
Iceland Express will fly to Winnipeg once a week, on Sundays, between June 12 and Aug. 31.
Recently, the airline acquired the rock band Iron Maiden’s World Tour Boeing 757 (still adorned with the band’s artwork and name), which will service Winnipeg often during the summer.
Helming those flights will be Iron Maiden’s lead singer, Bruce Dickinson, who has logged 7,000-plus hours as a commercial pilot and flies for the airline.
According to a company spokesman, the flight schedule has only been set through August, with the potential of it extending into the winter.
This will be determined at a later point in the summer.
