A shortlist of five finalists has been announced for the International Conference and Convention Association’s (ICCA) Best PR Award. The 2013 finalists are: Amsterdam RAI, Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Seoul Tourism Organisation and Wonderful Copenhagen Convention Bureau.
The award, which is sponsored by International Meetings Review (IMR), recognizes exceptional public relations performance by ICCA members. In a departure from traditional awards programs, the entries are determined by editorial representatives from IMR publishers and ICCA’s PR staff, who evaluate the PR coverage of ICCA members over the course of the whole year. Entries are selected on the basis of strong story-telling, high-visibility coverage, brand consistency, PR that helps overcome a crisis and/or showcases success. Traditional print and web/social media channels are all considered.
“We are very glad that we were able to identify a long list of 16 candidates who we believe showcased exceptional PR skills, resulting in great editorial coverage around the world,” said Martin Sirk, ICCA CEO. “We have long believed that PR is one of the most cost-effective yet under-utilized elements in the marketing mix. Our aim is to help ICCA members gain the est possible editorial coverage. We are sure that our partnership with IMR on this new award and the PR tools that we offer to our members will help to dramatically improve ICCA members’ PR performance.”
The winner will be announced during an IMR-sponsored lunch on Sunday, November 3 at the ICCA Congress in Shanghai.
