The Hotel Association of Canada, in partnership with MPI Foundation Canada, has launched the Green Key Meetings Program.
As an extension of the existing Green Key Eco-Rating Program, the new Green Key Meetings Program will provide travel, meeting and conference planners with a sense of a hotel or resort’s level of commitment to environmental issues as they relate to meetings.
The Green Key Meetings Program evaluates a hotel’s meeting and convention operations on a scale of one to five, with five being the highest ranking. Results are based on a thorough evaluation of the hotel’s sustainability efforts in the following five areas:
- Core (Carbon, Energy, Waste, Water, Air Quality),
- Communication (Information, Training),
- Activities, (Purchasing, Auditing Community),
- People (Health), and
- Ancillary Services (Exhibitions, Audi/Visual).
Upon completion of the Green Key Meetings assessment, the property is awarded a ranking and is listed on the program’s website.
