Group Germain Hotels was a finalist in the Greatest Innovation/Disruption category of the 2017 Rebels Awards, a program owned and operated by LE Miami, a four-year old trade show focused on creative, design-led and community-integrated, luxury lifestyle hotels.
The family-owned, Quebec-based company was singled out for eliminating pre-set check-out times at Le Germain and Alt Hotels across Canada for anyone booking directly, either online (legermainhotels.com and althotels.com) or by telephone. The opportunity to check-out at a time of one’s own choice has proven popular with business and leisure travellers, and increased the numbers of transactions made directly on the Group’s platforms.
“We are very proud to have been nominated at the Rebels Awards, a prestigious contest that celebrates the very best in the travel industry on an international level,” says Christiane Germain, co-founder and co-president of Group Germain Hotels. “We are pleased to see that Group Germain Hotels’ innovative approach to guest experience resonated well with the Rebels, the mission of which is to showcase visionaries and forward-thinkers in the industry.”
The 2017 Rebels Award in the innovation/disruption category went to One Night, a last-minute, same night booking app for a curated list of independent hotels. In addition to Group Germain Hotels, finalists were:
- Iniala (Thailand) for initiating an examination on local knowledge for its front office staff
- The Cosmopolitan (Las Vegas, Nevada) for introducing a chatbot concierge—Rose—to guide guests
- Zoku (Amsterdam, Netherlands) for integrating a hotel, apartment and office into a 270-square-foot space
Rebels Awards were given out in five other categories:
- Most Creative Collaboration
- Sexiest Design
- Best Interaction with Neighbourhood
- Most Original Campaign
- Greatest Guest Experience
Newfoundland’s Fogo Island Inn was a finalist in the guest experience category. It was honored for inviting explorer Dr. TA Loeffler to lead guests on a series of extreme excursions across the island.
The 2017 edition of LE (Limited Edition) Miami was held at the Miami Beach Convention Center, June 25-28, 2017.
