Visit Greater Palm Springs, the CVB for the popular southern California resort, entertainment, golf and meetings destination, reports that airlift has increased and several properties have been renovated.
The latest developments in the area, which includes nine cities (Palm Springs, Desert Hot Springs, Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, Indian Wells, La Quinta, Indio and Coachella), are:
Airlift into Greater Palm Springs
JetBlue began nonstop seasonal service from New York’s JFK Airport to Palm Springs International Airport (PSP) on January 14, 2016. The service will run to May 1st. Carriers flying into PSP are: Air Canada, WestJet, United Airlines, Delta Airlines, American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, Virgin America and Sun Country Airlines.
Renovations & New Spaces
♦ Renaissance Indian Wells unveiled pool upgrades and renovated meeting space with new iconic, classic Hollywood-themed carpet, furniture and artwork.
♦ La Quinta Resort & Club completed a multi-million dollar restoration to guest casitas, villas and suites in fall 2015.
♦ Renaissance Palm Springs has resurfaced and upgraded its pool deck and furniture; added a pool bar and cabanas with flat screen TVs; added in-room safes; and made a capital investment for HVAC and internal improvements.
♦ The DoubleTree Golf Resort Palm Springs, formerly the Desert Princess Palm Springs Golf Resort, has completed a multi-million dollar renovation of its guestrooms, bar and restaurant, lobby and event space. Amenities include an Olympic-size swimming pool, tennis courts, full-service spa, luxurious hot tubs and a 27-hole championship golf course.
♦ Homewood Suites by Hilton La Quinta has wrapped up a $2 million refresh that included a new front desk and lobby area; modern lounge; new guestroom furnishings; and new carpeting and wallpaper in hallways, guestrooms and meeting space.
♦ Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort & Spa’s newly renovated, technologically-advanced guestrooms include 65-inch TVs, media hubs and tech-ready innovations.
♦ Westin Mission Hills will debut 3,000 square feet of new outdoor event space early this year. The property underwent a $25 million rejuvenation in 2013.
♦ Andaz Palm Springs will open its doors with 25,000 square feet of desert contemporary-themed space, including boutique retail space, intimate indoor facilitates and private outdoor terraces, later this year.
♦ The multi-million dollar renovations for lobby and guestrooms at Miramonte Resort & Spa will include new carpet and paint in sleeping rooms; new TVs; new lamps with USB ports and plugs; new drapes and bed skirts: the extension of the outdoor lobby patio to include new fire pit; and the addition of a bocce ball court.
