Tom Bornhorst, chair of the Calgary Convention Centre Authority Board of Directors, has announced that Marcia Lyons, the long-standing general manager of the Calgary TELUS Convention Centre, will no longer be with the organization, effective April 15, 2016.
Heather Lundy, currently the centre’s marketing director, will serve as the acting GM while the Board conducts an executive search for a new general manager.
Lyons served the convention centre for more than 22 years. She held the GM position since 2000. “We are grateful for the dedication Marcia has shown in managing the Calgary TELUS Convention Centre. We thank Marcia for her service and wish her all the best,” said Bornhurst.
Lundy has worked at the convention centre for 10 years and prior to that she worked with Travel Alberta and Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. Bornhurst expressed the Board’s confidence in her to serve as interim leader of the convention centre.
