Finnair is making getting to Helsinki easy and comfortable this summer. The airline is operating its seasonal service to Toronto with upgraded two-class Airbus 330 widebody aircraft, replacing the narrowbody, single class Boeing 757s it was using on the route.
“Finnair’s summer service has been very popular in Canada and I am very happy to be able to continue service in the Toronto market, now with an upgraded two-class A330 aircraft and an improved inflight entertainment experience,” says Finnair chief commercial officer Allister Paterson.
The Airbus A330 has 229 economy class seats and 42 seats in business class. Four of the airline’s eight A330s feature seats in business class that convert to fully-flat beds, with more scheduled for retrofit during 2014. The upgraded, complimentary entertainment system includes 72 movies and more than 150 television shows on demand.
The Toronto service departs runs on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays until September 21, 2014. Its schedule is timed to ensure speedy connections throughout Finnair’s network, particularly in the Nordic-Baltic region, Eastern Europe and Russia as well as to Asia.
The new business class service offers a meal and wine service created by Tomi Björk, one of Finland’s most renowned chefs. It is served on Marimekko dinnerware and Iittala glassware, two of the world’s most famous tableware brands.
The Toronto-Helsinki route is included in the joint business between Finnair and OneWorld partners American Airlines, British Airways and Iberia on traffic between the European Union and North America. The four carriers codeshare on the route with identical fares and conditions on North America-EU itineraries.
