TORONTO — Fairmont Royal York will unveil the final phase of a multi-year renovation this summer, in time for the hotel’s official 90th anniversary celebration.
The reveal will include a revamped arrival and check-in experience, newly imagined dining venues, contemporary event and meeting spaces, and a redefined Fairmont Gold section.
Taking inspiration from train cars and railroads, Rockwell Group design firm has created a lobby and arrival experience featuring a larger reception area lined with marble stairs and a sweeping ramp that guides guests to check-in stations inspired by train ticketing counters.
Key to the renovation is an elevated food and beverage experience that will debut four signature dining concepts. Newly arrived executive chef jW Foster plans to honour the brand’s commitment to sustainable food by implementing a program that works closely with Ontario farmers to provide local ingredients for each new menu.
Curated by hospitality interiors specialist Champalimaud, the refreshed Fairmont Gold area, comprising floors 13 to 18, offers larger, elegantly appointed suites and a new Fairmont Gold Residents Lounge on the 18th floor. Directing the service at Fairmont Gold is a team of concierge experts staffed by Les Clefs d’Or.
Moreover, the project will transform the property’s two most notable signature suites into Legacy Suites offering guests a residential-style urban retreat.
The reno will also redesign and modernize the hotel’s meeting, event and wedding spaces in a style highlighting the property’s historical features. Facilities include 36 meeting and function rooms and a VIP boardroom. Convention floor ballroom spaces accommodate up to 3,000 people. An earlier phase of the reno added meeting space on the main mezzanine level.
