TORONTO —Fairmont Hotels & Resorts and Mota-Engil Tourism are developing a 250-room luxury hotel and additional private residences along the Riviera Nayarit, in Mexico.
Fairmont Costa Canuva is slated to open in late 2018 in the new $1.8 billion USD master-planned Costa Canuva seaside community just north of Punta Mita and about 40 miles north of Puerto Vallarta International Airport.
“Our goal is to create a true community, integrating our beachfront village with residential neighbourhoods, golf course and lagoons. Not only do we look forward to welcoming international visitors to this wonderful region, but we are excited to create new opportunities for domestic tourists and the local people of the Riviera Nayarit,” said Rafael Lang, CEO of Mota-Engil Tourism.
The Costa Canuva community will feature five hotels, including the Fairmont, which will house 250 guestrooms and suites, including 40 Fairmont Gold rooms and Fairmont branded residences. In addition, the hotel will feature more than 22,000 square feet of meeting and event space, six restaurants and bars, an outdoor swimming pool and a Willow Stream Spa covering nearly 13,000 square feet. A centre for children and young adults, providing a range of activities, will be geared towards families.
The property will also feature Fairmont-branded residences available as whole or fractional ownership homes.
As well as attracting an upscale clientele, the Fairmont Costa Canuva will benefit from its proximity to the Sanctuary Convention Center, making it convenient for corporate groups, conferences and social events.
Costa Canuva community, with more than 4 miles of shoreline and 630 acres of beach, estuary and mountains, will offer 2,500 residential units within the beachfront village.
Also part of the development will be an exclusive golf course designed by Greg Norman and Mexican golf champion Lorena Ochoa. Other activities at the seaside community will include paddle surfing, more than 20 km of cycling tracks designed by the International Mountain Biking Association and a canopy park, including ziplines.
Spearheading the Costa Canuva community development is Portugal’s Mota-Engil, one of the largest construction and infrastructure management companies in Europe.
