MONTREAL — David Connor joins Fairmont Hotels & Resorts as regional vice-president, Eastern Canada, effective Jan. 3, it was announced last month.
To be based in Montreal, Connor will manage Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth, currently undergoing a major renovation, and will oversee Fairmont’s hotel portfolio in Quebec City, La Malbaie, Tremblant and Montebello, Que., and Ottawa.
Connor brings with him more than 30 years of experience in the hotel industry. He has worked in Canada and the U.S., and since 1991, has held progressive positions with Starwood Hotels.

I am pleased to arrive in time to prepare the reopening of Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth following its reinvention and to guide the hotel into an exciting new phase of its history. As well, I look forward to working closely with the general managers of the Eastern Canada region to ensure memorable experiences for our guests,” said Connor.
Connor began his career as director, total quality management and hotel manager with Le Centre Sheraton Montreal. In 2000, Connor relocated to California to become general manager, Hilton Sonoma County, Santa Rosa and held that position until 2002, when he returned to Canada as general manager, The Westin Calgary. In 2005, Connor was appointed opening general manager for The Westin Boston Waterfront.
In 2013, Connor was appointed to his most recent position as area managing director, Eastern Canada, where he was responsible for seven properties in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Burlington, Vt., as well as acting as general manager for the Sheraton Centre Toronto.
With more than 70 hotels globally, and more in development, Fairmont’s portfolio includes The Plaza in New York, The Savoy in London, Fairmont Grand Del Mar, Dubai’s Fairmont The Palm, Fairmont Peace Hotel in Shanghai, Fairmont San Francisco and Fairmont Le Château Frontenac in Québec City.
