Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers is offering hefty incentives for stressed travelers to put away their PDAs. As part of the hotel’s BlackBerry Detox Challenge, the first person to lock away their portable gadget for 48 hours will receive a complimentary return three-night stay and dinner for two at the on-site Shula’s Steak House. The next group of challenge seekers who participate from now until March 15 will enjoy a complimentary upgrade during their stay, based on availability. Everyone who checks-in their BlackBerry will be given a walking map allowing them to actually see the city instead of being in the head-down ‘BlackBerry position.’
Valid year-round, the complimentary programme is designed to help prevent ‘thumb malady’ while allowing e-mail addicts to connect personally with significant others, family, friends and colleagues during their Windy City visit.
