The Convention Industry Council (CIC), along with the Certified Meeting Professional’s (CMP) board of directors, has released the new CMP re-certification application.
The updated application has been modified to ensure relevancy to a broader global meeting planner while ensuring that CMPs are maintaining the high standards of the credential.
Furthermore, the revised application will focus on continued work experience, education and the participation in industry support activities.
All CMPs must re-certify every five years. CMPs required to re-certify in 2010 have the option to use either the revised application or the previous application.
Requirements to re-certify include three years of work experience in the industry and 25 hours of continuing education, or 10 of the continuing education hours may be supplemented by three industry support or professional development activities.
Earning a bachelor’s degree or higher, or international equivalent, in the five-year re-certification period, will also satisfy the continuing education requirement.
