The Convention Industry Council (CIC) has released a new ethics statement and policy for the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) programme.
The new ethics statement outlines norms of professional conduct that should guide and act as a compass in day-to-day business dealings, according to the release. The disciplinary policy establishes procedures and avenues of recourse in the rare event when they are needed.
The CMP programme has long had an ethics statement, which must be acknowledged by all CMP applicants and by all CMPs when they recertify. The CIC released the new statement to increase visibility of their ethics statement for CMPs, outside of the application and recertification process.
The CIC notes that they receive very few complaints about the ethics or business practices of CMPs, considering there are more than 9,000 active CMPs around the world
The ethics resources are publicly available on the CIC website.
