The Calgary TELUS Convention Centre (CTCC) and Calgary Hotel Association (CHA) have signed an agreement to market and promote business sales to Calgary from the Meetings, Convention and Incentive Travel (MC&IT) sector.
Known as the Calgary Destination Sales & Marketing Department, the new business unit will promote Calgary and area as a prime business-travel destination, and will be housed at the CTCC.
This will be achieved through a marketing and sales initiative specifically targeted at the MC&IT markets.
“We are in the process of hiring key positions for the department and implementation of our marketing plan,” says Marcia Lyons, general manager, Calgary TELUS Convention Centre.
“Funding will be provided through the Calgary Hotel Association, Destination Marketing Fund,” notes Joseph Clohessy, president, Calgary Hotel Association. “We look forward to the success of this initiative and to providing our industry partners with long-term solid business.”
An advisory committee will be put into place to provide direction on strategy and key markets within Canada and the United States.
