The Convention Centres of Canada (CCofC) and the Canadian Society of Association Executives (CSAE) are interlinking their upcoming, Calgary-hosted annual conferences. Both conferences are being held at the Calgary TELUS Convention Centre. The CCofC is taking place October 27-28th, 2015 overlapping with CSAE, which runs October 28-30th, 2015. It is the first time the conferences have overlapped.
With 500 association leaders from across Canada meeting in Calgary, it is a great opportunity to merge knowledge between Canadian convention centres (the supplier) and Associations (the meetings client). “Meetings are about making connections,” says Marcia Lyons, general manager, Calgary TELUS Convention Centre. “By connecting these two conferences, Calgary is facilitating new networking opportunities between industry counterparts.”
CCofC and CSAE have aligned on a joint conference session, Partners in Event Excellence: Exploring Opportunities for Strategic Cooperation in Optimizing the Meeting Experience. The session will include experts from each side of the meetings industry (the association client and the convention centre supplier). Attendees will experience an open forum to explore current challenges and future opportunities. The session will be moderated by Rod Cameron, president, Convention Centres of Canada with Marcia Lyons, general manager, Calgary TELUS Convention Centre; Nina Kressler, president and CEO, Shaw Centre; John Hoyles, CEO, Canadian Bar Association; and Michelle Gravelle, director, Meetings and Travel Management, Canadian Medical Association.
The Canadian Society of Association Executives’ (CSAE) primary focus is to service the needs of association professionals and business members who provide vital products and services to support the sector. Members of CSAE represent industry and professional associations, charities and issue-specific organizations across Canada.
The Convention Centres of Canada is comprised of 19 major convention centres operating across the country. The 19 member centres collectively host 8,000 meetings, conventions, exhibitions and related events per year. Members meet once per year to discuss industry trends and best practices.
