New York Marriott – Brooklyn Bridge completed the first phase of its $43 million-renovation with the unveiling of its reimagined Great Room, M Club Lounge, bar and lobby in June.
The Bar, located off the grand entrance, is the property’s new social bug. Its redesign reflects the industrial chic style of its Downtown Brooklyn neighbourhood. Details include: glass, metal, subway tiles, white marble table tops and an eye-catching piece of original metal artwork over the fireplace that features Brooklyn neighbourhood names.
Adjacent to the space, a guarded wooden “gate” provides access to the new M Club Lounge, a signature feature of select Marriott Hotels created specifically for frequent Marriott Rewards members.
Both the M Club Lounge and The Bar are now offering foods and beverages from local suppliers including Ovenly Bakery, Brooklyn Brewery, Sixpoint Craft Ales, Brooklyn Winery and Roastery and Espresso Lab, Brooklyn Roasting Company.
“As Brooklyn has transformed into an international social hub, it has become particularly appealing for foodies and culinary businesses, ranging from historic restaurants to buzz-worthy newcomers who have set-up kitchens in the area,” said Sam Ibrahim, general manager, New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge. “Marriott hotels embrace their locations, and we are lucky to be situated in the center of Downtown Brooklyn—at the heart of the action—so we can bring these experiences to our guests and act as a jumping off point for the borough.”
“When we first built this hotel 16 years ago, it was the first hotel built in all of Brooklyn in 64 years. Since then, Brooklyn’s further evolution has been extraordinary and amazing. Our goal is to continue to grow: to immerse our guests into that unique and transformative ‘Brooklyn experience’. The emphasis on local purveyors and unique offerings has elevated the dining scene in Brooklyn, and is another enticing draw for travelers and groups,” said Joshua Muss, owner of Muss Development and owner of the hotel.
The redesign of the hotel’s 40,000-square-feet of meeting and event space will be completed in September 2015. Renovations of its 667 guest rooms will be completed in 2016.
