The Convention Industry Council (CIC) is now accepting applications for the new Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) Governance Commission. The governing body, previously known as the CMP Board, is comprised of CMPs who represent all sectors of the CMP community including planners, suppliers, third-party consultants, and members of academia.
Created in 1985, the CIC relies on seasoned CMPs to govern the CMP program and ensure it remains current to the requirements necessary to be successful in the meeting management profession.
This new governing structure is open to all CMPs. Appointees will review and approve updates to the CMP and CMP-HC exams, evaluate the policies of the program to maintain the integrity of the certification program and best practices and ensure all sectors of the meetings industry are represented fairly.
“These are exciting times for the CMP program,” said Karen Kotowski, CEO of CIC. “The changes to the CMP governance structure are just the next step in moving the CMP forward as the globally accepted standard in meeting certifications. As such, we have continued to evolve our operations to follow certification best practice, and the changes to the governance body are another piece of that process.”
All nomination forms must be submitted to email@example.com no later than February 15, 2015. Appointments will be made no later than March 1, 2015. Complete information is available at www.conventionindustry.org.
