
Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay
In response to the increasing demand for new vacation and business event destination options, Marriott International is on track to open 16 new resorts in the Asia Pacific region. The expansion includes seven brands in 10 countries and territories, including China, Malaysia, Vietnam and Thailand.
The new properties range from tranquil resorts like the beachfront Weligama Bay Marriott Resort & Spa, which is the company’s first hotel in Sri Lanka, to The Ritz-Carlton Haikou, which is the brand’s first golf resort in China.
“This is an exciting year for Marriott International in the Asia Pacific region as we deliver innovative, new ways to cater to today’s and tomorrow’s travelers,” said Peggy Fang Roe, Marriott’s chief sales and marketing officer, Asia Pacific. “Our new openings demonstrate our promise to be where our guests want to be and provide them with everything they need to relax, recharge or celebrate a special milestone.”
In addition to The Ritz-Carlton Haikou and Weligama Bay Marriott Resort & Spa, the company is opening the following hotels:
- Shanhaitian Resort Sanya, Autograph Collection – the brand’s first property in China
- Element Chongli, located near mountainous Taiwoo Ski Resort, Zhangjiakou, co-host of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics
- The Westin Yilan Resort, the Westin brand’s first hot spring resort in Taiwan
- The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi, an oceanfront resort on the Andaman Sea in Malaysia
- JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa in Southern Vietnam
- Renaissance Pattaya Resort & Spa, Thailand
- The Ritz-Carlton, Koh Samui, Thailand
- Renaissance Bai Ulutwatu Resort & Spa, Bali, Indonesia
- Fuji Marriott Hotel Lake Yamanaka, located at the base of Mount Fuji, Japan
- Nanki Shirahama Marriott Hotel, near Osaka in western Japan
- Lake Biwa Marriott Hotel, near Kyoto
- Izu Marriott Hotel Shuzenji on the country’s Pacific coast
- Jeju Shinhwa World Marriott Resort & Spa, South Korea (scheduled to open late 2017)
- Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay, the brand’s debut in Fiji
