Algonquin College is offering a first-in-Canada program for students looking for a career in events, sports, or entertainment.
“The Bachelor of Event, Sport, and Entertainment Management (Honours) Degree program, a first in Canada, will expand offerings and highlight the School of Hospitality and Tourism,” said Claude Brulé, president and CEO of Algonquin College. “Launching in Fall 2023, it will combine unique skills for those who want to learn the strategic business elements involved in selecting and executing events of all types.”

This new program will prepare students to enter the event management industry with the skills they need to execute a range of events at all levels, the press release read.
“This four-year honours degree program prepares students for a career in event management at local, national and international levels, involving entertainment, sport, corporate, tourism, travel, business, non-profit, politics, art, special events, culture and fashion,” said Michael Tarnowski, chair, Algonquin College’s School of Hospitality and Tourism. “With the rapid globalization of the event industry, the scale and complexity of today`s events require the expertise of trained event management professionals. Students acquire the event management skills necessary to design, project manage and execute a wide range of small to large-scale events, impacting participants and audiences worldwide.”
