MONTREAL — Air Canada has launched seasonal non-stop service between Montreal and Casablanca, Morocco, Air Canada’s first African route, it was announced June 4.

The flights will be operated by Air Canada Rouge until Oct. 29 (and resuming on May 1, 2017) using 282-seat Boeing 767-300ER planes. Aircraft feature a choice of three seating options: economy; preferred seating, offering additional legroom; and Premium Rouge, with additional space. All flights provide for Aeroplan accumulation and redemption and, for eligible customers, priority check-in, Maple Leaf Lounge access and priority boarding.
“The launch of Air Canada’s first route to Africa is a signficant new addition to our international network,” said Benjamin Smith, president, passenger airlines. “Customers will now enjoy convenient service on the only non-stop flight by a North American carrier to North Africa, with convenient connections throughout Canada and the U.S. on Air Canada’s extensive network. For these reasons, we aim to eventually convert this seasonal route to a year-round service.”
Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, flights depart Montreal’s Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport at 6:55 pm and arrive in Casablanca at 7:10 am (plus one day). Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, flights depart Casablanca’s Mohammed V International Airport at 9:10 am and arrive in Montreal at noon. From June 7 to July 9, arrival and departure times from Casablanca will be one hour earlier, as Morocco reverses Daylight Savings Time during Ramadan.
As a result of its ongoing expansion, Air Canda provides scheduled passenger service directly to 64 airports in Canada, 55 in the U.S. and 87 in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Australia, the Caribbean, Mexico, and Central and South America. The new Montreal-Casablanca service is part of Air Canada’s ongoing international expansion this year following the recent launch of Toronto-London Gatwick and Toronto-Prague. This summer, Air Canada will also lauch new international services between Toronto-Budapest, Toronto-Warsaw, Toronto-Glasgow, Toronto-Seoul, Montreal-Lyon, Vancouver-Dublin and, later this fall, Vancouver-Delhi.
