Aeromexico has launched its first set of eco-friendly flights.
Operated on the Mexico City-San Jose and Costa Rica-Mexico City routes, by Aeromexico’s Boeing 737-700, the flights sought to save a fuel equivalent to 555 kg of carbon dioxide emissions.
On the ground in Mexico City, they aimed to save about 300 kg of emissions, and during the stay in San Jose International Airport in Costa Rica, the savings were forecast to be as high 180 kg of emissions, a key selling point to meeting and event planners leading incentive groups.
These gas emission savings were made possible by the aircraft’s advanced, fuel-saving technology.
Green in-flight practices included the separation of organic and inorganic waste; the reduction of printed materials to generate less amount of waste and weight; the use of biodegradable bags (accelerated decomposition); 100-per-cent cotton in pillows, tablecloths and napkins; and biodegradable hand soaps.
