Managing partner, Meeting Encore
I guess you could say that I started my career in the hospitality industry in high school. I was active in student’s council and worked with a team of volunteers to plan several events. Upon graduation I worked in a small hotel in France prior to going to University of Guelph for my BCOMM in Hotel & Food Administration. While several of my fellow graduates left the industry I continued to pursue my career starting in food and beverage management and then moving into sales roles with Delta Hotels, Pan Pacific Hotels, Kimpton Hotels, Starwood Hotels & Resorts and then Global Sales with Marriott Hotels & Resorts.
In 2006, while working full time, I graduated with my Masters in Arts, Leadership. I felt that learning about leadership styles would help me “know thyself” and be a better leader within our industry, my community and family.
I left the hotel side and joined Meeting Encore in 2010 and have never looked back. My partner and I purchased the company in 2011. Working with our customers every day and acting as an extension to their teams is very rewarding. Both Joe and I speak and write on different industry topics to continue to educate both the supplier and planner sides of our business. We believe that better understanding of each other allows for better collaboration and leads to success.
In 2016, Shannon Byck, David Drover and I started a full service conference and event planning company to compliment Meeting Encore. Intuitive Conferences & Events Inc is celebrating 2 years of helping clients bring their incentive, conference and meeting objectives to fruition.
This industry has been so supportive of me and my dreams. I want to continually develop and grow as a leader and volunteer.
